Delhi girl wins Gold at International Karate Championship 2019

*Rhea Rajan* fought her way to the podium at the International Full Contact Karate Championship held from 4 to 6 Jan 2019, at MSA Indoor Stadium, Purulia, West Bengal.
Besides India, the three-day tournament also saw participants from Japan, Korea, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Participating in 10-12 years’ category, Rhea Rajan rushed through her opponents in the quarters and the semis to reach the final.
In the final she beat the local favourite, Shena Lakra of West Bengal to win the Gold.
Five-year-old Glory Chandra was the other Delhi karateka to participate in the tournament.
*All the participants are being coached by Sensei Abhishek Chandra, a 3rd Dan black belt and his wife Shiva Gupta, a 2nd Dan black belt*of Kyokushin Budo Karata Shakai International, UK.
The Kyokushin style of karate, which the Dojo teaches promotes full contact fighting and is rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline and hard training.
*More than 500 karatekas participated in the three-day tournament* at Purulia, West Bengal.
