The 4th Summer Camp and International Seminar was successfully held in West Bengal, India, from 29th to 31st May 2026. This year’s event was particularly special as it welcomed distinguished guest instructor Shihan Satoshi Yui (7th Dan) from Japan’s Kyokushinkaikan. The camp was conducted under the guidance of Sekai Budo Karate-do Renmei Kyokushin Karate Head Instructor/CEO Shihan Prasanna Fernando from the United Kingdom.
Nearly one hundred students from different districts across India participated in this prestigious event. The camp provided a unique opportunity for practitioners to train under one of Japan’s top instructors, Shihan Satoshi Yui, who was a direct student of the founder of Kyokushin Karate, Sosai Masutatsu Oyama. Participants greatly benefited from Shihan Yui’s teachings, which closely reflected the traditional methods taught by Sosai Oyama at the Honbu Dojo during his lifetime. His technical instruction, discipline, and philosophy left a lasting impression on all attendees.
Following two intensive days of training, the final day featured the Kyu and Dan Grading Examination, conducted under the supervision of the two Shihans. The examination was extremely challenging and was carried out according to the high standards and syllabus practiced in Japan. Nine black belt candidates attempted promotion to their next Dan grade, with six successfully passing. The remaining candidates will have another opportunity to reattempt the examination in three months.
Beyond technical karate training, participants gained valuable life lessons from Shihan Yui. He emphasized the importance of becoming responsible and compassionate human beings, caring for others, and protecting the environment. These teachings reinforced the true spirit of Kyokushin Karate.
Sekai Budo Karate-do Renmei Kyokushin Karate Honbu would like to extend its sincere appreciation to West Bengal Branch Chief, Sensei Prithish Mukherjee (4th Dan), for organizing this outstanding seminar and providing an opportunity for karate practitioners from various Kyokushin organizations to train together. His dedication, hard work, and commitment to the success of this event are highly appreciated by SBKR.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to all the Kolkata Dojo instructors and volunteers who worked tirelessly from the beginning to the end of the camp to ensure its success. Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to the two Sri Lankan instructors, Sensei Manjula Preethiviraj and Sensei Lakmal Cooray, who travelled a long distance to participate in this camp. Their commitment and support are greatly valued.
Finally, we extend our special thanks to Delhi Branch Chief, Sensei Abhishek Chandra, who attended the camp with his students and provided valuable assistance throughout the seminar and during the grading panel.
